Ansel Easton Adams was an American photographer and environmentalist. His black-and-white landscape photographs of the American West, especially Yosemite National Park, have been widely reproduced on calendars, posters, and in books.
Leaves:
This image is strong because of the contrast between the different leaves in the image and how they are separated. For example, the larger leaves are in the bottom half of the image and the smaller ones in the top half.
The depth within this image is achieved by the contrasting light-coloured leaves in the foreground compared to the dark shadow in the background.
On the other hand, this image is weak because I feel that it is too busy amongst the frame. If this image was to be improved, I'd crop around the bottom leaves in order to make them stand out more to the viewer.

Busy Leaves:
Although this image seems busy amongst the frame, it is successful because of the colour gradient progressing from the outside of the image into the middle; from dark to light respectively.
The most emphasis is on the large light leaf which is off-right centre. This is a resting place for the eye and holds the centre of interest of the image.

Grass:
This is one of my favourite images because of the way the water droplets have been photographed. I also feel that the grass that he has shot is not too macro and results in the subject being able to be made out in the image, making it not so abstract.
This image holds no centre of interest as the leading lines are amongst the grass and lead the eye towards the upper right hand corner.

Large Leaf:
I really like this image because of the light and dark contrast between the large leaf and the background. Photographing the leaf in this way has resulted in it taking over the majority of the frame and immediately catching the viewer's eye when they look at it.
Although it looks as if the large leaf is in the background of the image, this part holds the vital centre of interest within the image.
